If assemblies are to be assembled automatically, then they must also be transported automatically from one processing station to the next. For this purpose, transfer systems in various designs are used. For example, in the image shown below, workpieces are attached in specified positions on the workpiece carriers, and move from station to station using an accumulating roller transfer system.
The workpiece carrier is located on the conveyor rollers, which have a slightly larger diameter than the other chain sleeves. The conveyor rollers do not rotate, and the workpiece carrier is moved at chain speed. If the workpiece carrier is stopped, for example, with a stop gate, then the conveyor rollers roll on the underside of the workpiece carrier.
